Our process at RHD is focused on producing authentically designed hand crafted furniture pieces combining the use of pure methods of joinery and new age techniques.

We hand pick our timber from locally sourced distributors making sure the pieces in our products have the most appealing grain and wood texture possible.

We aim to create the frames of our furniture from one continuous plank so that the wood grain flows continuously through our signature angles making sure that no matter how sharp our angles appear, they always look like a single piece of wood.

Every joint at every angle of our furniture goes through a series of machines to produce our signature sharp mitred angles. Our process gives each of our joints their invisible appearance and extremely robust structural strength.

Finally, our furniture goes through a meticulous process of sanding and detailing to ensure every element is flawless before finally going through the finishing and oiling process. We use Rubio Monocoat as our preferred finish for all of our products as they offer an amazing palette of oil finishes to deliver a durable, attractive and 100% environmentally friendly protection to each hand crafted piece.

Our founder, Rónán Hussey started RHD in 2013 and spent the years since honing his skills as a furniture maker and designer. With over 24 years of experience as a carpenter and joiner, Rónán has a vast knowledge of the technical side of craftsmanship.

In 2020, RHD Joinery Limited was incorporated, creating a range of signature pieces and committed to high-end bespoke work, focused on creating a new style of designer furniture for the Irish and European market.

Wood, like any other natural and porous material, continues to absorb and release humidity throughout its life. Our RHD furniture is designed to adapt well to the hydrometrical conditions of its environment.

The structural design of the furniture allows the wood to expand and contract. Variations in wood grain, texture and colour, knots and other natural characteristics are inherent in solid wood.

Every RHD piece of furniture has its own maintenance requirements, depending on the lifestyle and needs of the user. Caring for solid wooden furniture requires some skill, so it is important to be well informed. Here are our brand tips for caring for timeless RHD piece.

• For daily care of your furniture, use a damp cloth with a mild solution of warm water and natural soap. Do not use soap containing detergent and in case of a spill, make sure you remove it immediately.

• We also recommend and champion Rubio Monocoat oil. This specific oil restores shine and repairs day to day scratches.
